The French Symposium vocal group performed “Il est Bel et Bon” by Renaissance composer Pierre Passereau at a French showcase on May 8.  The song recounts a conversation by French housewives describing the attributes of their husbands, starting with the title line “He is fine and good,” and continuing with “he does not beat me” and “he feeds the chickens.” The group sang a four-part arrangement of the piece and won third place medals for their performance at the Texas French Symposium competition in March.
