*Track Sixteen: Paris

8/10

This song is similar to other songs Swift has written in the past. The tone and lyrics of this song reminded us of “Welcome to New York” from 1989. The way Swift sang the word ‘midnight’ in this song was identical to the way she sang it in “New Year’s Day” from the album reputation.

In “Paris,” Swift talks about drinking champagne with her lover while they are oblivious to the outside world. Similarly, in “New Year’s Day,” Swift writes, “I want your midnights. And I’ll be cleaning up bottles with you on New Year’s Day.” Could “Paris” take place on New Year’s Eve?
