Athletics to academics: student athletes implement competition strategies in school

As the fall semester enters its last week, stress about the upcoming exams is beginning to affect students. Last month, fall sports teams finished their SPC competitions, the fall sports season’s big finale. These student-athletes implemented strategies similar to exam preparation while training for SPC.

The teams’ SPC experiences demonstrated that engaging in thorough preparation, setting a clear purpose, focusing on personal improvements, and staying persistent in the face of challenges serve the teams well. The four principles—preparation, purpose, personal improvements and persistence—may also serve students well during finals season.

Field hockey, cross country and volleyball athletes shed light on their own strategies to success:

Field Hockey: Purpose Scores Victory
Girls’ Cross Country: Personal Improvements Drive Performance
Boys’ Cross Country: Preparation Propels Excellence
Girls’ Volleyball: Persistence Aces Success
